MEET MS. MARIE ALEXIS

Alexa Kane

Marie is particularly interested in helping individuals who:

Experience fear and anxiety

Are navigating difficult life transitions

Are experiencing difficulties related to traumatic experiences

Are struggling with relationship issues

Marie Alexis sees clients in person in the Milton clinic, in addition to offering virtual sessions. She is a registered social worker (RSW) who works with adults looking to navigate difficult life transitions, to connect more meaningfully to themselves and with others, and to cope more skillfully with life’s challenges. She believes that a strong therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for positive change, and strives to make therapy a space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to explore new ways of being.

Led by the belief that therapy should meet you where and how you are, Marie uses a variety of clinical approaches to support clients’ movement towards personal growth. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as applied mindfulness and emotion-focused interventions. She endeavours to practice from a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens.

Marie received her Master of Social Work degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of British Columbia. In addition to her affiliation with The Mindful Living Centre, she also works as a mental health counsellor with the Halton Hills Family Health Team. She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
