MEET ms. erika ristok

Erika is particularly interested in helping individuals who:

Are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression or low self-worth

Want to manage stress more effectively

Identify as being “highly sensitive”

Erika Ristok sees clients in the Burlington and Milton clinics and offers virtual
appointments. She is a registered social worker (RSW) who works with adults
seeking to better cope with life’s challenges. She views therapy as an
opportunity to uncover and explore self-limiting beliefs in a safe, supportive and
collaborative environment. She enjoys helping her clients expand their “mental
health toolkits” in support of their personal growth and well-being. To facilitate
this, Erika helps clients develop greater self-knowledge and coping strategies,
and encourages clients’ connection to their own values, resources, and strengths.

In addition to her knowledge and experience with Cognitive Behavioural
Therapy (CBT), Erika uses Internal Family Systems (IFS), applied mindfulness
strategies, including mindful self-compassion, and also draws on strengths-
based practices including Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational
Interviewing.

Erika earned a Master of Social Work degree at Wilfrid Laurier University and an
Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology – Neuroscience and Behaviour, at
McMaster University. Her professional experience included clinical placements
with Halton Healthcare’s Adult Outpatient Psychotherapy Service and the Halton
Hills Family Health Team. Also a retired Naturopathic Doctor and former clinical
supervisor at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Erika is a member
of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
