MEET dr. tanya zhao
Dr. Zhao is particularly interested in helping with:
Anger management and increasing emotional regulation skills
Anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, and family relationships
Conducting psycho-educational assessments/evaluations
Treatment for young people who have endured trauma and/or abuse
Dr. Tanya Zhao works in the Milton clinic and offers virtual appointments. She with children, adolescents, parents and families to help support them through the transitions and changes that all families encounter – whether it’s the start or change of school, changes within the family structure, or changes associated with puberty. Dr. Zhao works within the Adlerian Individual Psychology framework which focuses on personal strengths and abilities as a source of empowerment for clients. She also draws inspiration and methods from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing.
Dr. Zhao generally adopts a client-focused approach and works hard on building trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationships with her clients. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Adler University in Chicago, IL, and was employed as a clinical psychologist at the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center in Chicago prior to re-locating to Toronto, ON. Dr. Zhao is a member of the Ontario Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association.
