Dr. Azam is especially interested in assisting with:
Anxiety, perfectionism and trauma-related issues
Depression and other mood difficulties
Life direction guidance for emerging adults
Health-related problems (e.g. chronic pain/illness, substance use)
Dr. Azam works with adults and adolescents struggling with a wide range of psychological and physical health issues.
Dr. Azam views psychological health from a holistic mind-body perspective, taking into consideration stress management, physical health, lifestyle, and social relationships when working with clients. His approach is derived primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as he strives to assist clients in thinking adaptively, feeling with self-compassion, and acting in alignment with their personal core values. He also draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness skills training.
Dr. Azam completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at York University. His recent clinical experience includes placements within the York University Psychology Clinic, the UHN Toronto General & Western Hospitals, and the McMaster University Medical Center.
