Giovanni Foti is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist who works with Children, Adolescents and Families.  Dr. Foti is particularly interested in helping with:

– Assessment and treatment of academic, anxiety, behaviour and mood issues

– Behaviour management training for parents

– Counseling youth engaged in high-risk behaviours (e.g., self-harm or substance abuse)

Rather than viewing assessment solely as a means of diagnosing learning and behaviour problems, Dr. Foti uses assessments to identify and communicate client strengths, as well as give specific strategies to improve functioning and quality of life. A specialist in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dr. Foti also has extensive experience in helping children and families address a wide range of emotional, behavioural and relationship issues.

Dr. Foti received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Guelph.  He has worked as a Clinical Psychologist at the Oakville Centre for Cognitive Therapy, Kinark Child & Family Services, the Chedoke Child, Youth & Family Program at McMaster Children’s Hospital, and the Adolescent and Gender Identity Services at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Dr. Foti is a member of the Canadian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies, the Canadian Psychological Association and the Ontario Psychological Association.
